Its continuous service in the Hong Kong Police Force. Having served 16 years, I was granted a pension of £126 a year on the 16th of August 1920. My salary was about £360 as a Sergeant under the government Police.
The Police at home receive two-thirds of their pensionable salary on retiring on pension. The Authorities promised that whatever the increase in pension is given under the new cost of living allowance scheme, which is now under consideration, will be added on to my present pension.
The cost of living is very high, and £2-18-shillings a week is less than a Constable's pay. Serving in the Police Force in the tropics is trying, more so than at home.
